*Founder of Rosa Lifestyle*

Over 50% of over-65s in the UK are living with some degree of cognitive or physical impairment. After seeing my Italian grandmother Maria, struggling with dexterity and lifting a cup of tea became a challenge due to dementia, I created Rosa Lifestyle, a daily living aid brand named after Maria’s favourite colour pink, which of course, is Rosa in Italian.

Yet, when searching for a lightweight, easy to hold, durable product, I could only find mugs which appeared clinical or childlike. There was a critical need for a product which ensured dignity and personality when carrying out everyday tasks. My business is designed to solve this social need.

Rosa Lifestyle’s products are daily living aids, tailored for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, or post-stroke symptoms. They are a practical choice for older adults or anyone seeking easy-to-handle kitchenware. They offer superior melamine quality mimicking the luxurious feel of high-end china, yet remaining lightweight and durable.

Building up a brand from scratch has been tough but I've been hugely encouraged and supported on my journey so far by securing a place on Natwest/ RBS's 2024 Entrepreneur Accelerator programme, winning the Consumer Products Start Up of the Year (Scotland) award and being a finalist in the upcoming Fife Business Awards and Business Women Connections (Edinburgh) awards.

From my initial two mug designs, Rosa Lifestyle continues to grow at pace with 12 mugs designs currently available as well as 2 types of mug lids which provide a little more support if needed. There's also nothing better than a sneaky slice of cake or a good old sandwich with your favourite cuppa so there are currently 6 matching small snack trays available with another 6 designs late 2024.

Fundamentally, my brand is about creating a positive impact in people's lives by providing living aids that make everyday tasks easier at the same time as reflecting one's individuality and personal style.
